Dependent on porn and masturbating
Hi, I’m a boy of 14. I’m dependent on pornography and masturbating. I’ve tried to stop many times but I can’t. I also smoke quite a bit. I smoke because it’s fun but I know that it’s wrong. What should I do?

In order for you to stop being dependent on porn, we would advise you to talk to an adult who you think would take you seriously and who could walk with you through the process of giving up porn. Get in touch with an adult, Christian man who you trust. This could be for example a leader in the youth work at church, or someone else you know. Ask him if it’s OK for you to share a difficult challenge you are going through and which you want to be free from.
Sometimes we have to leave our comfort zone in order to reach the freedom we desire. Although it can feel scary, this step is not as dangerous as it seems, even though we think that ‘no one would have thought this about me’. We think it is absolutely necessary for you to find someone you can talk openly with about this challenge.
