When a person looks at porn, they often want to perform sex acts that they would otherwise not want to do. A lot of people who watch porn get so addicted to it that they really struggle to stop. That’s why it’s best not to start looking at it.

The best way to avoid it is to be honest and say that you don’t want to watch porn. The fact that you’re a Christian means that you are more aware of this, but you don’t need to justify your position by saying that you’re a Christian. A lot of people who are not Christians are aware that porn is harmful and very addictive. You can say that you don’t want to fill your mind with porn. If the other person doesn’t respect this, then it’s better to just turn and go your own way. But if they are good friends they will respect you for this. If they don’t respect you and persist, then you should really think about whether you want them as friends. Even though it can be hard to stand up for what you believe, it will always be worthwhile in the long run if you don’t give in to pressure.

God has created sex as a great gift which He wants us to share with the person we marry. The person you marry will be thankful that you haven’t spent your teenage years watching porn and filling your thoughts with sexual fantasies. It will also be much easier to be faithful to your spouse and not to fantasise about having sex with others.
