Child
When a sperm cell bonds with an egg cell, fertilisation occurs, which means that a human life starts and a child is created. The child is often called a foetus before it is born. The child is in the mother’s womb for about nine months (40 weeks) before being born.
The child is the offspring of two parents, a woman and a man.
The age at which a child becomes an adult varies in different cultures. According to the law of many countries, and the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child, everyone under eighteen years of age is legally a child. This means that children have extra protection and have their own rights.
